“It is hard to be happy without a life worth living. This is a fundamental tenet of DBT. Of course, all lives are worth living in reality. No life is not worth living. But what is important is that you experience your life as worth living–one that is satisfying, and one that brings happiness.”

Services offered

Individual Therapy is tailored to meet the needs of each client while following the treatment principles in each evidence-based treatment modality. With a signed Release of Information (ROI), Dialectical Minds of Texas, PLLC will coordinate with treatment providers for a multidisciplinary approach to your mental health treatment.

DBT is a present-oriented therapy that helps us balance principles of change and acceptance. It is derived from cognitive behavioral therapy and designed to work with individuals who have severe dysfunctional behaviors, including pervasive emotion dysregulation, and suicidal behavior.

Comprehensive DBT consists of:

  • weekly individual therapy

  • client participation in a weekly DBT skills group

  • 24/7 phone coaching access

  • therapist participation on a DBT consultation team

Between-session coaching is available to clients participating in comprehensive DBT. Responses are generally provided within 24 hours. Immediate availability is not guaranteed. Areas of instruction include skills coaching in DBT skills. Skills coaching will be further discussed in comprehensive DBT.

Comprehensive DBT has been shown to be effective towards treatment of:

  • depressive disorders

  • bipolar disorder

  • attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • PTSD

  • substance use disorders

  • borderline personality disorder

  • self-harm behaviors

  • suicide ideation

  • emotion dysregulation

  • binge eating disorder

  • bulimia nervosa

It is considered the gold standard treatment for borderline personality disorder, chronic suicidal, and self-harm behaviors. Client and therapist contract for specific lengths of agreed-upon time to work together depending on several factors such as frequency and intensity of symptoms and the stage of treatment (four stages total). Stage 1 contracts require a minimum of 6 months to 1 year commitment. For more information, visit https://behavioraltech.org/.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

A short-term, present-oriented therapy that looks at the effects of the relationship between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT is the most evidence-based and researched treatment modality in the mental health field. CBT is considered a gold standard treatment for depression disorders and anxiety disorders and is considered a highly supported, evidence-based therapy for treatment such as body dysmorphia, bipolar disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. Treatment lengths vary, with approximately 6 to 20 sessions. For more information, visit https://cares.beckinstitute.org/.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A form of cognitive behavioral therapy structured for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CPT seeks to challenge the thoughts that can get us “stuck” in the recovery of PTSD symptoms. Developed in the 1980s, CPT is considered a gold standard, front-line treatment for PTSD. Treatment lengths vary, with approximately 12 to 16 sessions. For more information, visit https://cptforptsd.com/.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE)

A protocol created to treat PTSD symptoms in suicidal, self-harm, and multi-diagnostic adults receiving DBT. DBT PE is delivered in three stages, including in vivo and imaginal exposure and processing. Research suggests the DBT PE Protocol can be used during Stage 1 DBT treatment, approximately around 20 weeks, pending client readiness factors such as nonengagement in any suicide ideation or self-harm behaviors. The DBT PE protocol is an evidence-based therapy for the treatment of PTSD and traumatic invalidation. Treatment varies, with an average of 13 sessions. Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the total expected cost of mental health services and non-emergency items or services. Health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You may also ask your healthcare provider for a GFE prior to scheduling a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the estimate of your GFE, you have the right to dispute the bill. For questions or more information to your right to a GFE, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
